SCARIAZZO
Fiano Puglia IGT
Scariazzo is made from Fiano grapes; this variety, originally from the Irpinia area, was known as the Apiana grape (Bees Grape), since bees (api) preferred it for its sweetness. The vines are carefully selected and the wine is made according to Rivera’s long experience and its determination to maintaine authenticity and the real expression of its variety and its terroir. The grapes are harvested in the last week of August meeting an optimal phenolic ripeness. The must ferments at a controlled temperature, 20% in new Allier oak barriques and the remaining in stainless steel tanks. It is delicious with appetizer and with elaborate first course meals, light meats, and with most seafood dishes.
CAPPELLACCIO
Aglianico, Castel del Monte Riserva DOC
Cappellaccio expresses the full potential of Aglianico grown on the limestone hills of the DOC Castel del Monte. The Cappellaccio Aglianico Riserva takes its name from the thin and hard calcareous crust that is found at around 30-40 cm under the limestone soils of the Castel del Monte doc area and that has to be broken in order to allow vines to be planted. Its important structure is refined from aging in French oak for 12 months, balanced by fresh acidity typical of the variety. Its elegant bouquet, harmonious and complex make it suitable to accompany savory meat and mature cheeses.
TRIUSCO
Primitivo di Manduria DOC
With "Triusco", Rivera aims at a delicately-balanced blend of the characteristics of the primitivo variety grown in two representative but different terroirs. 60% of the blend comes in fact from Manduria, where the variety shows the fullest body and character, and 40% is sourced from Gioia del Colle DOC area, where the cooler climate and the rocky soils lend wines of greater elegance and balance. Impenetrable purple color and intense bouquet of dark berry jam and cocoa, the taste is full and smooth with a long finish. Served at 18 ° -20 ° C, goes well with dishes rich in flavor.
